I’ve been tagged in the 10 Things That Make Me Happy tag by the lovely Alana from Burnished Chaos. You can read her post here. I’ve been having a bit of a rubbish time recently so I jumped at the chance to focus on the good things in life so here is what made my top ten:
1. My Husband
I’m not an overly sentimental person and this may seem a little bit soppy but my husband, Rik is my rock. He’s my best friend, the love of my life and one of the few people who ever tell me the complete and honest truth (even when I don’t want to hear it). We’ve had our ups and downs like most couples but I can always rely on him to make me smile when I’m having a bad day. He’s an amazing dad who works extremely hard and I am so thankful to have him in my life.
2. Being a Mum
My children are my world. They may be the ones who send my blood pressure through the roof on a daily basis, but they are also the ones who bring it back down again with an ‘I Love You’ followed by a big hug.
I am a total bookworm and can regularly be found with my head hidden in a paperback (or more recently behind my kindle). I love books that much that I have set up another blog solely for my book related posts, check it out here. It seems that Corey has also developed my love of books and together we are slowly working our way through his Roald Dahl collection at bedtimes.
4. Me Time
This something that can seem like a myth to a lot of parents, mums especially. However I try to carve out a bit of time every day just for myself in order to regroup. It may be something a simple as having a cup of tea while it’s still hot to being able to get my nails done.
Summer in the UK is a bit hit and miss but when it does finally make an appearance I definitely make the most of it. The sunshine always make me happier and I love getting out and about with the family whether it’s in the garden with the paddling pool or exploring new places.
I’ve got a total girl crush on P!nk and I’m not afraid to admit it. I’ve seen her in concert twice and would quite happily sell a kidney if I needed to in order to see her again. She is such an amazing person and her music never fails to make me happy.
Along with books, another passion of mine is stationery/planners. I’ve always had a bit of thing for notebooks and pens and have recently encountered the world of the planner. I now have quite a collection and yet another blog related to this. Like the reading, this also seems to be rubbing off on the kids and they are both obsessed with pens, pencils and sticky notes.
8. My Mobile Phone
I appreciate that this my be a bit of a cliche my phone makes me extremely happy. It’s like my own little comfort blanket and I’d be lost without it. One of the main reasons it has made my list is the camera and photos. I love being able to just snap something in the moment and be look back on it whenever I feel or share with other people.
There are so many places I want to visit both in the UK and abroad and I hope that one day I will be able to cross more off my bucket list. At the minute we are starting small with family holidays with the kids to Majorca. My dream is to take them to Florida one day.
It doesn’t matter whether it’s a walk by the river or a trip to the beach, exploring nature is extremely relaxing. As a family we regularly visit our local parks and Corey loves watching the wildlife and investigating the different trees/plants etc. Plus, it’s free and that’s enough to make anyone happy!!
So there we have my top ten, I’m tagging anyone who would like to be involved.
