It’s Day 6 of #Blogtober17 and I’m nearly back on track with actually posting on the right day at (almost) the right time. Anyway today we are all about flowers.
Anyone who knows me well will know that, although I love the idea of gardening, I’m rubbish at keeping anything remotely plantlike alive for any length of time; however that doesn’t stop me from dreaming of a gorgeous garden full of plants and flowers.
During the summer months I often find myself wandering around our local garden centre gazing at all the flowers and wishing I had the knowledge to keep them alive long enough to enjoy them.
It doesn’t help that we only have a small garden at the minute as my OH took over most of it to build a double garage to house is cars. In addition to that, what we do have is more of a patio than a garden. However given the chance I would love a little container garden with some pretty flowers or maybe even some herbs, although they would have to be pretty low maintenance and pretty hardy to survive my murderous hands.
I’m going to have summon the garden fairies in time for next year as the kids have decided they want to grow some sunflowers. We already have the seeds and I have put in my planner for next year when we need to sow them. Hopefully I will be able to help them produce some fantastic sunflowers, time will tell.
They have also shown an interest in growing their own fruit and vegetables. I’m thinking about attempting to grow some strawberries and some peppers as I know they can be grown in pots.
Who knows this time next year I may on my way to being the next Charlie Dimmock.
Do you have green fingers? I’d love any tips you may have to maintaining a healthy garden
