I’m pretty new to blogging and have been slowly trying to learn as much as I can to help my blog be successful.
One of the things I come across time and time again is talk about ‘finding your niche’. Now try as I might, this is one area where I am failing.
Don’t get me wrong, I am trying.
When I first started My Chaotically Eclectic Life I covered everything from my planner/stationery obsession to family outings to my reading obsession. After a while I realised this wasn’t working and have since started two other blogs to cover planning/stationery and books.
But that’s as far as I seem to be able to go. I can’t seem to niche down any further, which in the blogging world seems to be a cause for concern.
How do you find your niche when your passions and interests are so varied?
I’m not really what I would call and expert in any field.
I may have had three kids but on the whole things have been pretty uneventful with them so far. Talking about babies makes me feel like a fraud as my eldest is just about to leave home and my youngest two are at school/nursery.
I love spending time with my family and going off places, but again I’m not an expert and we don’t do this every week. In fact we probably only manage one or two days out in a normal month, and then it’s usually to the local parks.
Both of my kids love technology, reading and crafts, but again this is only a fraction of our seemingly boring life.
On a personal level I seem to spend a lot of time trying to squeeze in 10 minutes for myself throughout the course of a day after cleaning, meal prep, school runs and everything else involved in running a busy household. But that doesn’t make me an expert! I’m pretty sure that just makes me normal.
I love the idea of being organised. Living in a lovely clean and tidy home with time for myself to do as I want. In reality I spend half my day chasing my tail trying to keep on top of everything. I would love to write about being super organised but the reality is that I live in chaos.
So this is where I find myself today. I have far too many interest and lots of things to write about.
I’d love to say that I could narrow down my niche but right now I simply don’t know how.
Do you have a niche? How did you narrow it down? How often do you write about things outside your niche?
I’d love to hear from you, so drop me a comment and help a girl out, please!
